ENNERDALE, Johannesburg– Banking services at Shoprite Ennerdale were interrupted earlier today after Absa and Nedbank ATMs on the premises were damaged in a vandalism incident.
According to Shoprite management, the machines were struck with stones, leaving both ATMs out of service. Technicians from Absa and Nedbank have been dispatched to assess the damage and determine repair timelines. In the meantime, customers have been advised to use nearby branches or digital banking platforms.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation. No injuries were reported among shoppers or staff. Security personnel responded swiftly to secure the area following the damage.
The South African Police Service has opened an investigation and is reviewing CCTV footage from the shopping centre to identify the perpetrators. Local authorities have also been notified.
Shoprite Ennerdale confirmed that the store remains open for trade despite the ATM disruption. Management said it is working closely with the affected banks to restore services as soon as possible and will issue further updates when more information is available
